As gradution comes nearer, the cadets at encampment work even harder to do their best.
On Friday, the cadets had an amazing time and were able to use the rappel tower, obstacle course, and climbing tower at Norwich. The rappel tower stands 80 feet tall and allows cadets fo descend down the outside wall. After instructions from the Norwich staff, the cadets climbed the stairs to hook up and rappel down. Many saftey precautions are in place to ensure that no one gets injured. Cadets were able to zip down the wall like special forces troopers in movies. It was a blast!
While some of the flights were rappelling, the others ran through the obstacle course. This challenging area surrounds the rappel tower and contains numerous obstacles that involve climbing, jumping, and other activities. The cadets first took a run through the o-course to familiarize themselves with the obstacles and learn how to overcome them. They then ran through the course as a team and were timed.
After that, the flights ate lunch and then got back to more fun. The cadets went into the Shapiro Field House and did the rock climbing wall. Now instead of jumping down a wall, they climbed up. As each flight waited its turn on the wall, they practiced drill (marching).
Saturday (Today) is a very big day. In the morning, the cadets have SMI (Saturday Morning Inspection). This is the final, most detailed inspection of the week. The cadets have been preparing all week for this inspection.
Wish them good luck!
